Absolutely THE BEST stuff I’ve ever used for protecting the skin around Nick’s
Mickey button is Calmoseptine Ointment.
The manufacturer’s site lists these uses. I’ve only used it for around Nick’s gtube so far:
* Incontinence of urine or feces
* Feeding tube leakage
* Minor burns, scrapes
* Fecal or vaginal fistulas
* Wound drainage
* Diaper rash
* Moisture, such as perspiration
I wish I had found it years ago. It works wonders for the redness and irritation. I’ve tried the gauze, diaper rash stuff, petroleum jelly, you name it. I keep it in the basket that I use to give him his meds in the morning and at night so that it’s right there when I’m handling his g-tube anyhow. But even if I forget and the site gets red, it doesn’t take long (overnight) for it to sooth & heal the area.
