Alleviate Pressure Sores and Skin Breakdown in Bed

You may have read my blog about the wheelchair pad that we found for our son, Nick. It is made out of Akton polymer. When you first see it, you might think that it’s a gel pad. But it’s much better than gel because it is a solid material. If you’ve ever sat on a gel cushion, you know all too well that gel moves away from what’s pushing down on it. In my opinion, this defeats the whole purpose of what it’s supposed to do – provide cushioning.

So when our son’s new wheelchair came with gel padding on the seat, he quickly developed some skin breakdown on his tailbone. So, my search for some better cushioning began. That’s when I truly lucked out and discovered Akton Polymer. Unlike gel, it’s a solid material. You can actually cut it with scissors.

And wheelchair cushions aren’t the only Akton Polymer products that you can buy. They also make mattress overlays in various sizes. So if you or someone you know suffers from pressure sores, skin breakdown, or even for added comfort after surgical procedures, I highly recommend this product.
